Gail
M. Presbey awarded for faculty excellence
Highlighter & Laureate,
Fall 2003
|
Each
year, the faculty select one to three of their peers to be honored
with University Faculty Excellence Awards. These individuals are
selected because they possess the qualities and skills that best
exemplify the body of faculty at University of Detroit Mercy. Qualities
include excellence in teaching and scholarly endeavors; service
and active involvement in the University, the faculty member’s
profession and the community. They also engage in personal and professional
activities that express the University mission.
From the College of Liberal Arts & Education, Gail M. Presbey ’81,
associate professor of Philosophy, received the Faculty Achievement Award
at an October 17 reception. Suk H. Kim, professor of Finance in the College
of Business Administration, received the Distinguished Faculty Award.
“This award shows that the faculty have confidence in my abilities
in the areas of teaching, scholarship and services. It also shows that
my colleagues appreciate my contributions, such as my cross-cultural approach
to the study of Philosophy, my Peace and Social Justice courses, my courses
for the Women’s Studies programs, my work for the Carney Latin American
Archive and Arthur F. McGovern, S.J. Catholic Studies Program, to name
just a few.”
