Medical Relief in Cambodia
PA
alumni Christopher Stramecky ’95, and
Susan Klimist ’85, organized a four-week
medical relief trip to Cambodia in August/September. They
provided needed medical care and help to rebuild the country’s
medical infrastructure, under the auspices of the Asian Medical
Doctors’ Association of Cambodia. |
| Red Cross Blood Drive
In recognition of PA day, UDM’s PA students sponsored
a Red Cross blood drive on the Outer Drive Campus, October
7. PA Day commemorates the day when the first PA students
completed the PA program at Duke University on October 6,
1967. |
PA Alumni News
PA alumni Abby Kerr ’01, and Raymond
Mooney ’75, appeared on the public access cable
TV program, “Focus on Health,” in July to discuss
the role of a physician assistant. |
| PA alumnus Lonna VanAst ’98,
joined the practice of Internist Bennet Cecil, last spring to
assist him in a Detroit-area clinic devoted exclusively to the
treatment of hepatitis C infections (HCV). Cecil and VanAst
provide individualized patient treatment plans using the latest
biotechnology products to destroy the virus. HCV is the most
common chronic blood-borne infection with estimates that nearly
2,000 new cases of HCV will be reported in Detroit this year. |

PA student Rocelious (Roe) Goodson received
the 2004 Michigan PA Foundation Scholarship. He was awarded
