Highlighter & Laureate,
Winter 2002

On March 27, the College of Liberal Arts & Education and University Ministry will host a lecture by Joseph Brown, S.J., professor and director of the Black American Studies Program at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, who will speak on “Theology of the Spirituals & Their Message For Us Today.”

Brown is a nationally-recognized leader in the African-American Catholic community, a well-known speaker, and the author of To Stand on the Rock: Meditations on Black Catholic Identity.

He will be accompanied by a Gospel Choir performing the pieces which he will discuss in his lecture. This promises to be an exciting, enriching, encouraging, and uplifting event for the whole city of Detroit.

Look for more details on this event in an upcoming e-Connect and mailings from the College.
