Moving the Psychology Clinic, Counseling Clinic and personal counseling from the Outer Drive Campus to Reno Hall on the McNichols Campus is the first step in creating a new wellness center and improved wellness network for students and staff at the University.

The relocation of the two clinics this summer is part of the general migration of programs from the Outer Drive Campus to the McNichols Campus. Reno Hall has been selected as the location for these programs, as well as a personal counselor who will serve UDM students. The Student Health Center, currently in West Quad, is scheduled to move to Reno in summer, 2004

“The goal is to consolidate as many resources as possible in one place,” says Associate Professor of Psychology Judy McCown, director of clinical training in the Psychology Department.

A committee is studying ways to improve the array of services the University provides students, faculty, staff and the community. The discussion is in the early stages, but holds promise for a fuller delivery of services.

“By combining these resources, we hope to improve the physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of our students,” says John Staudenmaier, S.J., dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Education.
