Students, faculty and alumni of the University of Detroit Mercy’s Physician Assistant program were well represented at the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants annual conference in September at Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel.
A special reception marking the 30th anniversary of UDM’s program drew a standing-room-only crowd.
“It was great,” says Suzanne Warnimont, program chair and director. “We had alumni there from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.”
Sharon Moser, instructor and academic coordinator, was one of the conference’s featured speakers with a presentation on acid base disorders. Other highlights of the event included the Michigan Physician Foundation’s presentation of a $1,000 scholarship to UDM student Nan Kenyon for her outstanding scholarship and community service, and UDM students’ participation in a “quiz bowl” competition.
“They didn’t win, but they had a lot of fun,” reports Warnimont.
