April 30, more than 150 students, faculty and family members celebrated
the inauguration of the Delta Mu chapter of the Alpha Iota Delta, the
national honor society of the decision sciences and computer information
systems.
Eleven UDM undergraduate students, 33 graduate students, and seven faculty
members were initiated at the inaugural ceremony, which was held at UDM.
College of Business Administration Dean Bahman Mirshab, and guest speaker
Richard P. Blotner, vice president of North American Operations for the
Oracle Corporation, were also initiated.
“It is an honor to have been involved with the chartering of the
Alpha Iota Delta Delta Mu chapter,” states UDM Professor of Business
Gregory W. Ulferts, the chapter sponsor and founding member of the Decision
Sciences Institute. “The chapter represents an ongoing opportunity
to recognize the academic achievements of students in decision sciences
and computer information systems.”
The Delta Mu chapter strives to confer distinction for academic excellence
in the decision sciences and computer information systems. It promotes
the infusion of the functional and behavioral areas of administration
with the tools, concepts, and methodologies of the decision sciences and
computer information systems; and promotes professional fellowship among
students, faculty, and administrators who share a common interest in the
development of decision sciences and computer information systems.
