Great Things At Detroit Mercy

  • Students and the community benefit from the School of Dentistry being in the City of Detroit. Detroit Mercy students help make a difference for those living in the city and as a result are exposed to a larger variety of dental issues than many other dental schools can provide.
  • Detroit Mercy’s School of Dentistry curriculum and course content are constantly being reviewed and improved to present the most current information and trends in dentistry.
  • Students in the seven-year program may earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology or Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry
  • Students spend the first three years of the program at the McNichols Campus in the College of Engineering & Science. The last four years are in the School of Dentistry.
  • The School of Dentistry has a number of outreach initiatives including the Bay Cliff Health Camp, Give Kids a Smile, Mack and Third, Mouth Guard Clinics, Special Needs Clinic and TeamSmile.
  • Detroit Mercy student and faculty volunteers provide free dental care to uninsured adults in the City of Detroit and the surrounding areas through the St. Vincent de Paul Clinic. The clinics run on average two Saturdays every month throughout the year.
  • The seven-year Bachelor/D.D.S. program lets qualified students save time (and tuition!) in getting a highly sought after degree.
  • Small class sizes — our average undergraduate student-to-teacher ratio is 11:1; that means plenty of individualized attention aimed at making sure our students succeed.
  • In the tradition of our Jesuit and Mercy sponsors, Detroit Mercy offers a well-rounded education. We don’t just teach dentistry; we create community leaders.
