Legal Administration (BA)
Description
Students currently enrolled in the program will be allowed to complete the program requirements no later than May 2021.
The Bachelor of Arts with a major in Legal Administration is designed to introduce students to the different substantive areas of law. Students will learn legal research skills and other important skills necessary to manage the complex mixture of personnel, technology and business that exist in today's legal world.
A Legal Administration major must complete a 27-credit-hour core with an additional 15 required elective credit hours. Students may select a 3-credit or 6-credit-hour internship in a private or corporate law firm, government or judicial office, or public service organization or placement in one of our practicum sites. The internship program director will assist students with placement.
Independent study or directed research is also available for up to 6 credit hours. All topics must be approved by the program director at the time of registration.

To obtain this undergraduate degree, the student must fulfill the requirements of the University Core Curriculum, the requirements for the program major and have completed a minimum of 126 credit hours.

- Electives from Area II (15 credits)
A grade of "C" must be maintained in all courses required for the major. A GPA of 2.0 must also be maintained. Students must also complete the University Core Curriculum requirements.
*Certain courses are not for credit if the student took the corresponding course with a different prefix.

- LAD 4500* Marketing the Law Firm (3 credits) OR BUS 3120* Principles of Marketing (3 credits)
- LAD 4900 Clinical Experience in Law Firm (3 credits) OR LAD 4940 Legal Administration Internship (3-6 credits)
*Certain courses are not for credit if the student took the corresponding course with a different prefix. Both LAD 4500 or BUS 3120 satisfy the marketing elective. Students may not take both.
