MFE 333 Principles of Lean Manufacturing

This course introduces the principles and methods of Lean Manufacturing. It emphasizes that Lean Manufacturing is the result of elimination of waste from manufacturing operations. The various forms of waste in manufacturing are identified and their adverse effects are evaluated. Methods to eliminate each form of waste are introduced and their applications are illustrated using examples from industry. Examples of successful and unsuccessful applications of Lean Manufacturing principles are analyzed.
