This course teaches students the history and fundamentals of game design. But unlike most other game design courses in the US, the focus of the student projects would be on the production of “critical video games,” games that are designed to both entertain and educate. Typical projects for the course would include the development of video games which combine design as well as thoughtful critique of our culture and digital media, as well as developing an advertisement complimenting the creation of a complete game.
