NUR 5120 Quality Improvement in Health Services

This course introduces health professionals to the knowledge, skills, methods and tools necessary for improvement and innovation in health care. Students will learn to recognize major quality issues in health care, as well as goals and approaches to better models of care. The course will focus on continuous quality improvement methods including the use of data to measure variation in process and outcomes, building knowledge of customers and their requirements and the application of quality models, approaches and tools. Patient safety will be addressed as it relates to health care quality. Leadership, teamwork and organizational strategy for the achievement of health care quality will be emphasized. The course prepares students to identify improvement opportunities within an organization and to use evidence based tools and approaches to improve care delivery. | 3 | 0 | 0 | | |
