NUR 5140 Leadership and Human Resource Management in Health Care

This survey course provides a behavioral approach to management by examining current theories and their application to the function of leadership and the management of human resources. It explores how managers across the spectrum of health services organizations lead and direct. Contemporary leadership theories and approaches will be examined, including transformational leadership, leadership IQ, complexity science, and change. Leadership competencies for health care managers in the current and future health care environment will be identified and analyzed. Essential human resource functions for healthcare organizations will be discussed.
