The logical extension of the medical history and physical diagnosis completed in PAS 510. With this option the student completes a project in the areas of clinical practice, education, management, or research. The project could include: an evidence based clinical project, a teaching project, outcomes or program evaluation, needs assessment, preparation of a review article, research utilization, quality assurance, or other projects. It involves the writing of a scholarly paper which includes an introduction and literature review, then (depending upon the type of project) methods, results, and discussion. The master's field research project may involve a research problem identified by the student or it may involve student participation in some existing faculty and/or agency research projects. A field research project involves application of the research process to health organization problems and their solutions. Possibilities include surveys, replication studies, pilot studies, evaluation studies and/or quality assurance studies.
