HSA 510 Leadership and Human Resource Management in Health Care

This survey course provides a behavioral approach to management by examining current theories and their application to the function of leadership and the management of human resources. It explores how managers across the spectrum of health services organizations lead and direct. Specific managerial theories and methods, such as individual and group problem solving, motivation theory, group dynamics, leadership theory, organizational change, communication and human resource management are the focus. They provide a framework for consideration of issues associated with the role of health services organizations and health systems managers. The activities and content of this course will assist beginning managers by providing a foundation for professional development.
