Dr. Antoine Garibaldi congratulates Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) at the AJCU Board Dinner in Washington, D.C. The Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law alumnus received AJCU's 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award. Earlier in the day, Dr. Garibaldi was elected to the organization's Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.

On Jan. 17, Gov. Rick Snyder unveiled a plan for the federal government to approve an allocation of employment-based visas for professionals holding advanced academic degrees and workers with exceptional abilities. The announcement was made at a press conference at the Ideal Group in Detroit, a Hispanic-owned company delivering innovative solutions in construction services, manufacturing and indirect material management. UDM President Garibaldi and several UDM students joined the governor, Detroit Mayor Dugan and local residents for the announcement.

On Jan. 11, UDM President Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., met with high school students participating in the Detroit Regional Dollars for Scholars program. On the far left of the photo is UDM student Christa Hoen, who works with the Dollars for Scholars program as the UDM campus volunteer. The students in the program attended sessions related to college planning and toured the UDM McNichols Campus.  They also attended the Titans Men’s basketball game vs. Oakland University as part of their campus experience.
