University Commons

As part of the University’s commitment to its neighborhood, UDM President Gerard L. Stockhausen, S.J., serves as chair of the Board of Directors of University Commons.

This community organization in northwest Detroit is comprised of neighborhood associations, Livernois Avenue businesses, Marygrove College and UDM.

The organization works to improve the residential and business environment in the area. Recent University Commons projects include façade improvements and beautification of the Livernois median.

Kimberly Varner Tandy is the organization’s full-time program manager.
