Professor Slaven has been in private practice since 2000, handling business and corporate matters as well as criminal and family law matters. In addition, he assists in bar exams appeals and has processed over 100 appeals since the late 1990s. He was consulted by the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law on how to best create a Michigan Bar Exam Topics & Strategies course and has taught this class since its inception. The course focuses on substantive law, techniques and strategies to successfully complete the Michigan Bar Exam, including Multistate multiple choice Bar Exam. He is also the current author of the Book of 9's and 10's which is a book that specializes and focuses on the essay portion of the Michigan Bar Exam.
