Melissa L. Pope is Chief Judge of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Tribal Court, Chief Justice of the Little River Band of the Ottawa Indians Tribal Appellate Court and an Adjunct Faculty at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. She currently serves as the Chair of the American Indian Law Section and as a member of the American Indian Law Standing Committee, both of the State Bar of Michigan. Judge Pope is a member of the First Nations Two Spirit Collective, on the Leadership Team of the ROOTS Coalition, Chair of the Michigan Alliance Against Hate Crimes Education and Public Awareness Subcommittee and on the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence LGBT Planning Task Force.
