Professor Mellon graduated from the University of Detroit School of Law, where he was a member of the Urban Law Journal and the Moot Court Board of Directors. He has practiced law in Michigan since 1973 and is admitted to practice before all state and federal district courts in Michigan as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He specializes in insurance, medical liability and litigation. He is designated as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter by the American Institute of Property Casualty Underwriters and as an Associate in Risk Management by the Insurance Institute of America.
He annually publishes on developments in Insurance Law in Michigan and has published articles in the University of Detroit Mercy Law Review on Workers’ Compensation and Auto No-Fault Insurance.
