Judge Cholack was appointed to the Wayne County Circuit Court in December 2008 and elected in November 2010. He serves in the Domestic Relations Division, where he presides over 800 active cases and thousands of potentially active cases involving divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, property division, and personal protection orders. Prior to his appointment, Judge Cholack practiced from 1997-2008 with Lange & Cholack, P.C. and Roumell, Lange & Cholack, PLC. There he represented clients in a wide range of labor and employment matters, including collective bargaining, arbitration proceedings, administrative hearings, mediation, and litigation. A trained mediator, Judge Cholack also mediated circuit and district court disputes and over 100 cases for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission before his appointment to the court. From 1991-1997, he served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, where he prosecuted felony trials before juries and judges, including specially assigned homicide trials. He has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law since 2006.
