Chuck Berner

Chuck Berner, DDS, MAGD, DABFO, Forensic Odontologist. Dr. Berner is a member of the Florida Emergency Mortuary Operations Response System, the federal Disaster Mortuary Operations Response Team, Region V and is grateful to have received the Commanders Award for Meritorious Service. He deployed as part of the DMORT response to Hurricane Katrina and the Joplin Tornado and is a member of the National Dental Image Repository review panel for consultation to the Criminal Justice Information Services division of the FBI. Dr. Berner was honored to have received the Assistant Director’s Award for Excellence at CJIS in Clarksburg, WV. Dr. Berner is grateful for the opportunity to have regularly trained not only with his DMORT V team but also for the opportunity to have trained under the National Disaster Medical System with DMORT Regions IV and VI, the WMD team and the OFDA MRT. Completing a yearlong Forensic Fellowship at the Univ. of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Dr. Berner began an association as collaborating scientist and was granted Fellow status with the Univ. of Buffalo’s Laboratory for Forensic Odontologic Research. He has Fellow status in the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, was elected to the Board of Governors of the American Society of Forensic Odontology and has earned his Diplomate status to the American Board of Forensic Odontology. He is a consultant to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office and the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. Dr. Berner is also a member of the International Association for Identification, the Ohio Identification Officers Association and often presents to his local first responders and SANE/SART community. Dr. Berner was inducted as a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry, has earned the Life Long Learning/Service Recognition Award and reviews manuscripts and papers submitted for publication. Dr. Chuck Berner has practiced general dentistry for over 30 years in Cleveland, Ohio.
