Andrew Papa teaches Fundamentals of Acting, Acting II, Introduction to Theatre, and Voice and Movement, among other courses. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Broadcast & Cinematic Arts at Central Michigan University, his Master of Fine Arts in Acting at Wayne State University, and holds a Certificate in Advanced Theatre Training from The Moscow Art Theatre School. Papa also a certified assistant teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework®, and has studied at the Stratford Festival in Ontario and The Second City Training Center in Chicago, Ill. Papa joined Detroit Mercy in 2015.

In addition to teaching, Papa has been working professionally in the theatre and film industries for several years. He has performed as an actor with the Jewish Ensemble Theatre, the Williamston Theatre, and the Matrix Theatre Company, among several others, and appears in the recently released SAG film, Beyond the Mask. He also works as a dialect/text/speech coach, having worked at the Tipping Point Theatre and Wayne State University’s Hilberry Theatre and Bonstelle Theatre, and with professional clients, one-on-one.

    • Performed in dozens of plays with several professional theatre companies.
    • Published a book endorsement for Book of Sides II: Original Two-Page Scenes for Actors and Directors by Dave Kost.
