A member of the faculty since 1981, she teaches courses on the ancient Mediterranean world, Renaissance Italy, and the history of art and architecture. Each year, she directs and teaches in the college's Summer Study Abroad program in Volterra, Italy. The author of several articles on Renaissance humanism and philology, she is currently engaged in a book-length comparative study of four Italian art cities. She has been a recipient of fellowships from the Danforth Foundation and the Renaissance Society of America. She earned the A.B. from Sarah Lawrence College and the Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
