The University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's track and field programs extended their long history of classroom excellence as both squads earned the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honor for the 15th and 16th consecutive year, respectively.

In order to be considered an All-Academic Track & Field Team, a program must record a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better.

The Titan men's track and field team recorded a 3.23 GPA during the 2016-17 season and was one of 142 men's teams, including five from the Horizon League, to receive the All-Academic accolade.

In fact, the Titans led all 2016-17 Horizon League track programs in team GPA.

The Detroit Mercy women's track and field team posted a 3.36 GPA during the season, one of 218 Division I teams and five from the Horizon League to make the prestigious awards mark.

The Titans 3.36 GPA ranked second overall in the conference, just behind NKU's 3.39.
