Detroit Mercy's work with out neighborhood was highlighted in the 2016 Invest Detroit Annual Report.Detroit Mercy’s work with our neighborhood was highlighted in the 2016 Invest Detroit Annual Report titled “Rebuilding a city. Building community.” Invest Detroit is a certified Community Development Financial Institution and a leading source of private sector financing that utilizes a variety of funding tools through managed for-profit and non-profit targeted funds to support economic and community development in underserved communities primarily in the City of Detroit.

On page 10 of this publication titled “Neighborhood Redevelopment: Public Good Infrastructure,” the report describes the work at the intersection of Livernois and McNichols and the partnership between the university, the Reimagining the Civic Commons initiative, connection between Marygrove College and Detroit Mercy and the creation of mixed-use housing, walkable, safe streets and new open-space strategy in the Fitgerald neighborhood. This placemaking development will undergo implementation by Invest Detroit, the City of Detroit, Detroit Mercy, Marygrove, Detroit Economic Growth Corp., Detroit Land Bank Authority, The Greening of Detroit and Detroit Collaborative Design Center from the Detroit Mercy College of Architecture.
