Libby Balter Blume Named 2016 NCFR Fellow
The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) has conferred its prestigious Fellow Status on Libby Balter Blume, Ph.D. She is a professor of Psychology at University of Detroit Mercy and a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE).
Dr. Blume is recognized as a 2016 NCFR Fellow for her exceptional contributions to family scholarship and NCFR through innovative leadership and commitment to excellence in the practice and training of family scientists.
She has provided outstanding contributions to families and social justice in several areas, including practice, outreach and teaching. Through her roles as a journal editor, she has also provided vision and leadership to her field of study.
She is also the founding director of the Certified Family Life Education program at University of Detroit Mercy, where she mentors students who have made significant contributions to the field of family science and NCFR.
Dr. Blume earned her Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University, her M.A. in Interdisciplinary Creative Arts and Education from San Francisco University, and her B.A. in Studio Art and Applied Behavioral Sciences from the University of California Davis.
