Detroit Prevention and Awareness in the Community (DPAC), a University of Detroit Mercy student organization, will host the "MoveMENt Step-Up" walk event Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Student Center Fountain Lounge on the McNichols Campus. Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by the walk at 10 a.m.

Male advocates will walk a mile in high-heeled shoes or decorated sneakers to raise awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence and educate the community about consent and bystander intervention. DPAC will also be providing information about service, counseling and support regarding these issues.

Registration costs $10 and includes water, a t-shirt, continental breakfast and a light lunch. Donations will also be accepted. All proceeds will assist DPAC in their consciousness and prevention efforts on campus and in the community by donating to local agencies that help victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.

People of all ages and genders are welcome to participate in this event. Register or sign up to volunteer online.

For more information, please contact Dean of Students Monica Williams at 734-718-1546 or DPAC@udmercy.edu.
