The Campus Kitchen at UDM will host its annual winter fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 8 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at St. Hugo of the Hills Church (2215 Opdyke Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304) immediately following the 5 p.m. Mass. The fundraiser includes a soup dinner and features musical artists Ed Guay and Cindy Daily.

UDM Campus Kitchen's mission is to distribute unserved cafeteria food to senior citizens and shelters in the community who need food. It is a student-run organization that trains students to manage and operate anti-hunger, non-profit organizations.

“The program (the first of its kind in the state), is in keeping with the University’s mission of being a student-centered program,” commented Drew Peters, assistant director of UDM's Student Life Office. “Student responsibilities include planning a menu, cooking, organizing drivers and completing paperwork. The program allows students to build leadership and team building skills.”

“The program is run by University students and the outreach is to the local community, which reflects the mission of reaching out in an urban context,” Peters said. UDM encourages its students to engage in service and the immediate community around the University.

To RSVP for this special fundraising event, please contact Ann Niebrzydowski, volunteer in UDM's Institute for Leadership and Service, at 313-993-2003 or by email at niebrzam@udmercy.edu.

If you are unable to attend, you can still make a donation by sending a check to University of Detroit Mercy c/o Campus Kitchen at UDM at 4001 W. McNichols, Detroit, MI, 48221-3038.
