MBA Alumnus Returns for Leadership Slam

University of Detroit Mercy’s Emerging Leaders Program will conduct its Leadership Slam with guest speaker and MBA alumnus Michael Carter ‘78. He will speak to UDM students on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. in room 234 and at 5:30 p.m. in room 138 of the Commerce & Finance Building on the McNichols Campus.

Carter is the managing partner of Pinnacle Construction Partners, LLC, a Tennessee multi-state construction firm. He also serves as president of Operation Graduation and is a former chairman and trustee of the Nashville Public Education Foundation and United Way of Metropolitan Nashville Board.

A native Detroiter, Carter is co-founder of the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, a charter school in northwest Detroit. He has received many awards in recognition of his community service, including the Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Jr., Award of United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, the Excellence in Volunteering Leadership Award, Nashville Chamber Volunteer of the Year, and the 100 Black Men Distinguished Member Award.

Leadership Slam is a discussion between experienced, professional leaders and UDM students. With topics ranging from global leadership to servant leadership, the event can be lecture or activity-based. The event is sponsored by UDM’s Emerging Leaders Program to assist students in developing their leadership potential through interaction with current leaders.
