TeamSmile is partnering with University of Detroit Mercy’s School of Dentistry and the Detroit Lions to provide free dental care to students at the New Paradigm Loving Academy. The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the New Paradigm Loving Academy, 1000 Lynn St., Detroit, MI 48211.

TeamSmile PhotoTeamSmile is a mobile dental clinic that partners with professional sports teams throughout the country to serve areas that lack adequate oral health care. The event at Loving Junior Elementary will feature TeamSmile participants, UDM staff and students as well as members of the Detroit Lions, including Head Coach Jim Caldwell, mascot Roary and several other players.

The nonprofit organization works to assist underserved children in need while creating a life-changing dental experience. Through this experience, children receive free oral health education, screening and treatment, and are taught that the mouth and body are linked for overall health.

TeamSmile is the nation's premier advocacy group, and by partnering with professional sports organizations, it creates an experience that develops bonds between children’s organizations, oral health professionals, surrounding communities and the athletes to solidify the message that oral health care is vitally important to long-term health.

In addition to the Detroit Lions, TeamSmile has partnered with such teams as the Cleveland Indians, Chicago Bears, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, Milwaukee Brewers, Denver Nuggets, Kansas City Royals, and more.
