October 09, 2014

University of Detroit Mercy’s College of Engineering & Science presents its second annual Student Research Symposium, Friday, Oct. 17 from 9:30 a.m.-noon in the Engineering Building High Bay.

The event offers the UDM community and its surrounding communities an opportunity to engage with students, faculty and alumni in discussions about research and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

In an effort to keep momentum in these fields, the Student Research Symposium is launching a campaign to strengthen this aspect of UDM’s education for current and future generations of students, and to shine a brighter spotlight on undergraduate research and projects.

In its 2013 inaugural year, the symposium hosted more than 150 high school students and 350 total participants. The College of Engineering & Science hopes to inspire high school students to choose STEM careers by having them interact with the undergraduate presenters and hear about the joys of learning through discovery and creation.
