Why you are going to love my class
In my class, we read amazing books and talk about them for 75 minutes. You can't beat that. People all over this country are starting book clubs. They want to reach new understanding through the discussion of literature and that's what we do together every day as a class.
Great things for you at UDM
College is a unique time in which you can surround yourself with intelligent, interesting people and spend all day talking about books and issues and ideas that matter to you. In English classes you will be introduced to great literature you might not otherwise have discovered. I will challenge you to push your own ideas as far as they will go.
One distinction about UDM
One unique thing about UDM is its commitment in helping students to become better citizens — more ethically engaged — in our society and our community. What we read is essential to who we are and how we engage with the world around us.
My favorite part of teaching you is
The new perspective you bring to texts I have read many times before.
I may change your mind
I may change your mind about poetry. Not all my students end up reading poetry for fun, but by the end of the semester, I guarantee you will have found poems that express something in your own life or help you understand a perspective or person you didn't understand before.
