Why you are going to love my class
You will enjoy the challenges of developing your expertise as an advanced practice nurse, and advancing in your career — whether you decide to teach, practice or become an administrator. It's great to see you create the person you always aspired to become.
Great things for you at UDM
Our classes are student-centered, and in these smaller classes, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop in areas you have identified. So you will work toward becoming skilled in those practice areas. We also spend a lot of time mentoring and partnering with you so you are very engaged with faculty, as well as with our alumni community.
Great things in store after UDM
Your career options as a Family Nurse Practitioner are excellent. With health care reform, we will see more patients who were previously uninsured, so there will be a growing need for more primary care providers. We won't have enough primary care physicians to meet that need, so there will be a significant role for the nurse practitioner in the future. You will have the ability to provide high quality nursing care within a context of social justice and commitment to the urban community.
My favorite part about teaching you
Your passion for nursing and to see you reach to become something new as a nurse practitioner.
I may change your mind
About how you think of yourself as a health professional. You will spend a lot of time learning, diagnosing and prescribing in order to become a provider, and through the process of becoming an advanced practice nurse, you actualize the role.
