Set up Exchange ActiveSync email on a BlackBerry 10 device

If using BlackBerry 10, configure an account with Exchange ActiveSync. Exchange ActiveSync allows email, calendar, contact, task, and memo synchronization.

  1. On the BlackBerry 10 home screen, select Settings.

  2. On the System Settings page, select Accounts and Add Account.

  3. On the Add Account page, select Email, Calendar, and Contacts.

  4. Type the email address and select Next.

  5. Type the password and select Next. The Looking up connection information message displays. The device will try to set up the account automatically.

    If connection information is found, specify the information to synchronize and select Done. Go to the BlackBerry Hub to access the email account.

    If connection information is not found, use the advanced setup steps below.

Advanced Setup Steps:

  1. On the BlackBerry 10 home screen, select Settings.

  2. On the System Settings page, select Accounts and select Add Account.

  3. On the Add Account page, select Email, Calendar, and Contacts. Then, select the menu icon beneath the Email Address box to access advanced setup options.

  4. On the Advanced Setup page, select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.

  5. Enter the account settings as follows. 

    • In Description, give the account a name.

    • Leave the Domain field blank. 

    • In Email Address, type the full email address.

    • In Username, type the full email address.

    • In Password, type the password.

    • In Server address, type outlook.office365.com

  6. Select NextThe Checking for supported services and policy information message displays.

  7. On the next page, specify the information to sync, and then select Done. The Saving and verifying your settings message displays.

    If the account was set up, go to the BlackBerry Hub to access the email account.

    If the account could not be authenticated, click OK, click Previous, and then verify that the settings are correct.

Set up POP or IMAP email on a BlackBerry 7 or earlier device

  1. From the BlackBerry home screen, select BlackBerry Setup > Set up Internet E-mail > Add An Email Account.

  2. Type the email address and password, and then select Next.

  3. The BlackBerry will try to set up the email account automatically. If setup completes successfully, skip to the next step. If the email account can't be configured automatically, do the following:

    1. Select I will provide the settings to add this email account.

    2. Scroll down, and then select Next.

    3. Select Internet Service Provider Email (POP/IMAP), and then select Next.

    4. Type the full email address as the username (for example, smithjm@udmercy.edu).

    5. Scroll down and type the name of the email server, outlook.office365.com

    6. Select Next.

    7. Enter the name of the outgoing server, smtp.office365.com

  4. Select OK to complete the setup.
