Fruit of the Reed Pen: Introduction to Arabic/Islamic Calligraphy

Professor of Engineering Nihad Dukhan’s exhibit of Arabic calligraphy will continue to be on display in the McNichols Campus Library through Friday, Oct. 27. Dukhan will host an additional talk, “Fruit of the Reed Pen: Introduction to Arabic/Islamic Calligraphy,” on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. in Room 139 of the Commerce & Finance Building. This event is co-sponsored by Students for Justice in Palestine and Muslim Student Association. Dr. Dukhan will explain how calligraphy is done, and the historical and cultural context of the practices of Arabic calligraphy, from its beginnings to contemporary times.
